The burning taste of ginger resembles hot pepper, but it is tastier and more aromatic, especially if you add other ingredients correctly, such as honey and lemon. We will look at two recipes for ginger tincture at home. These cooking technologies have been repeatedly tested by practice and have earned recognition among fans of homemade alcohol.

Fresh ginger should be smooth and dense, but with a thin skin. Wrinkles, spots, and visible fibers indicate that the root has been lying for a long time. To check, you can lightly pick the peel with a nail, a characteristic smell should appear. Long roots contain more essential oils, they are preferable for infusing.

In both recipes, the alcohol base can be store-bought vodka, diluted with water to 40-45% ethyl alcohol or purified moonshine.

Classic ginger tincture

Traditional cooking technology is used. The taste of the finished tincture does not feel alcohol, only a pronounced aftertaste and aroma of ginger. The drink warms well and causes an appetite.

  • ginger root (fresh) – 40-50 grams;
  • vodka (alcohol 40-45%, moonshine) – 1 liter;
  • honey – 100 grams (optional).

Fans of concentrated tinctures can add more root – 75 grams. Honey softens the burning taste of the tincture, sugar is not so effective.

1. Wash the root under running water, clean it.

2. Grind the ginger on a grater or chop it with a meat grinder. Put it in a jar for infusing.

3. Add vodka and honey (optional). Mix well.

4. Close the jar with a lid, transfer it to a dark place with room temperature for 10-14 days. Shake once every 2-3 days.

5. Strain the finished ginger vodka through cheesecloth. To make the drink transparent, it can be additionally filtered through cotton wool.

6. Pour into storage bottles, seal tightly. Shelf life-up to 2 years. Fortress – 36-38%.

Quick ginger tincture with honey and lemon

The preparation of the drink takes 15-20 minutes. To the taste of ginger, refreshing lemon notes are added.

  • vodka (moonshine, alcohol 40-45%) – 0.5 liters;
  • lemon (medium size) – 1 piece;
  • honey – 1 teaspoon;
  • fresh ginger root (peeled) – 20 grams;
  • salt – 1 pinch.

1. Wash the lemon in hot water, then wipe it dry to remove the chemicals that prolong the shelf life of citrus fruits from the peel.

2. With a grater or a vegetable cleaning device, remove the zest from the lemon-the upper yellow part, without touching the white bitter pulp.

3. Grind the ginger on a fine grater.

4. Pour the lemon zest and grated ginger root into the jar, add salt, and mix.

5. Squeeze the juice from half a lemon into the jar, mix again.

6. Infuse the mixture for 5 minutes, add vodka and honey. Close the lid, shake vigorously several times, and insist for another 5 minutes.

7. Filter the homemade ginger tincture through 3-4 layers of cheesecloth, squeeze the pulp well.
